Does anyone know when these apartments are going to be fully operational? I was in Grenada in Aug and there didn't seem to be much work going on!!?
Bones,
Wave Crest is totally finished with their renovations for awhile now. Most of their rooms even got upgraded.
Can you also tell me how far Caribbean breeze Apartments are from St.Georges, spice isle shopping mall, and Grand Anse(just so I can get my bearings). Their website says they are near the golf course but I don't know where the golf course is!!?
Hi bones,
the apartments are about 15 minutes drive from St.Georges, 10 from the Spiceland Mall and the middle of Grand Anse Beach. They are situated on the heights above the bay, but a little further inland, facing the east on the eastern egde of the golf cours...(Hope i haven't totally confused you now)
Thanks Neil.
Back to Wave Crest(as I think this is the one for me location wise),or apartments in general, do they give you your apartment key for the duration of you stay or do you have to hand it in to management on a daily basis? Are there any restictions on guests? Can you go and come as you please?
Aplogies for these questions but when it comes to Apartments I am extremely clueless!!
Hey bones,
as far as i know, you do not have to hand in your apartment key every day. If you want it to be kept safe for you (if you think you might lose it at the beach) you can always leave it at the front desk till you return, no problem. You can come and go as you please, you are on vacation and paying them for a service and they do not have any say whatsoever in what you do or where you go.
I think it best if you contacted them directly for additional info, just to put your mind at ease. They are quite helpful and would answer any questions with regard to staying with them, or about Grenada.
Anything else you would like to find out, just ask.
All the best
Hey Bones-
You sound like you really know your way around Grenanda. We would like to go to Grenada for a week and then to another island for a week. Our main preferences are near a great beach for swimming and small, low key, moderately price. I see Caribbean Breeze and Wave Creast are recommended - is one better than the other? Are there others I should check out? Are the cruise ships frequent or a problem?
We would like to find something on one of the other islands but not sure which island we would be best for great beaches/swimming?
Thanks for your help!
Bon
oops! sorry - my questions should have gone to NIEL - thanks! unless you have been there by now Bones!! We welcome all suggestions!
Thanks -
Bons
You must go to Carriacou and experience the nice, slow pace of the real Caribbean. Here are some suggestions and reasons for why to stay there (in no particular order):
SUNSET SIDE
Paradise Beach
Paradise Inn on Paradise Beach. Well, it is on the beach, inexpensive, and has their own restaurant with wonderful food at very affordable prices. You may never venture away from the Paradise!

Town
Patty's Villas are little apartments right on the beach in town so you are in the heart of all the "action" of town and steps away from Hillsborough bay beach's cool, blue water. Never stayed there myself but the owners are super nice.
Not sure of web address but check http://www.carriacoupetitemartinique.com under lodging.
Near Town
Silver Beach "resort" - never stayed there myself but know many folks who have and although as a resort leaves much to be desired it has its own little beach right out front (next to the bar!) and is a minute walk to town where it would be next to impossible to visit all the rum and roti shops in a week.

Bogles
The Roundhouse is under new management and by all accounts is better than ever. Just a short bus ride (or 20 minute walk) from town, Bogles is a tiny village with 2 shops next to each other and a small beach right down the steps. There is a restaurant and small bar on premises and the little cottages are nice and private.

North
KIDO Ecostation is way off the beaten path (another 15 minute walk from Bogles). They have a no alcohol policy so if the wild life is your thing than look elsewhere. But the real wildlife and seclusion of this place is wonderful to experience. They have a bay for swimming down 100 steps but not exactly a beachy beach. A short kayak paddle or 15 minute hike lies the still secluded (although new development there may change that soon) Anse La Roche beach for great snorkeling and another 30 minutes by foot will put you in my favorite beach of all La'pelle, a.k.a. Turtle Beach, Petite Caranage beach and here you'll see a nature path through the mighty mangrove forest. (there are shade huts for sun refuge and changing at both beaches). KIDO offers day sailing packages on their 57' catamaran. Awesome views from the "Octopus House."

SUNRISE/MOONRISE SIDE
Just south of Windward lies Bay-a-leau and Dave and Ulla's Carriacou Cottages. Very nice, rustic, private cottages next to the bay where you can swim all day or hire the "Mostly Harmless" tour boat and go 'Round de island or snorkle your butt off in the Tabago Cays. If you are in to watersports, this is your paradise... and rumor has it that they have some kite surfing gear for big air adventures. It is about a 10 minute walk to the nearest little shop and bus stop. Don't miss Ulla's famous cooking and beware the Magik Elixir Rum Punch!

That is the only place I have stayed on the windward side so my reviews are limited.
There are many other places that I am sure are just as nice as these mentioned above but I always recommend what I know. And no matter where you stay you will meet some of the nicest people around. Just smile and you'll see.
Bless up!
My recs - Gem Beach Resort on Morne Rouge beach or Blue Horizons just back from Grand Anse beach. Also you might consider Jenny's Place, on north end of GA, though I have no personal experience with this, it's new. Hideaway and Hummingbird apts are just off north end.
If you would like someting a little bit away from the beach and a lot quieter, then Caribbean Breeze is a good choice. They are reasonably priced and just off the golf course.
You would need to hire a car if staying there, unless you like walking a lot.
Gem Beach is directly on the beach, and so is the Allamanda Hotel. Blue Horizons is a short walk away, but has excellent grounds.
Jenny's place is at one end of the Grand Anse beach, which is also the thinnest part of the beach.....Tough choices, i know
Best thing to do is look at all of their websites and then find those which meet your pocketbook, then choose the one which attracts you the most.
(By the way, cruise ships are not a problem as they tend to stay on Morne Rough or Grand Anse beach, both of which are big enough so that you don't feel crowded.)
