We are leaving in 2 days and our hotel changed our reservations to the grand beach hotel. I've heard conflicting reports on the status of this hotel. I called them and they say they are 95% operational and all facilities including pool are up and running. Can anyone confirm this? I've read conflicting reports on the condition of this hotel. I know they got hammered and I'm not expecting everything to be perfect. I'm just looking for an honest assement of the condition of the hotels down there. Any reccommendations this last minute? Thanks,

Hi,

Grand Beach finally did some major repairs in the last couple weeks. Most buildings have a new roof on and it looks like a resort again. Unfortunately I did not see the rooms, and don't know in which condition they are.

If you like to stay on the beach, and you are aware that not everthing is perfect in the resort - I think you are safe with your accommodation choice.

Stayed at the Grand Beach until 17th Jan this year. The rooms are fine, and the food is up to standard. There is building work going on and they do not make any attempt to keep the guests out of the way of falling galvanise, so watch your step. That said, the building work is not generally disruptive. There are no watersports, tennis or golf facilities, obviously the rooms have to take priority, unfortunately this is not reflected in the price. The staff will make you feel welcome and generally it's an acceptable place to stay.
