i recently stayed at the flamboyant (2/26 - 3/7) and they were rebuilding their restaurant that was demolished.. does anyone have any recent photos of their new building.. we knew that they had no pool and only a temp restaurant area, but if anyone out there is debating whether to stay there, i would still highly recommend it.. this was my third time there and even with all the stairs, it was still worth it.. for people who dont want all the stairs, there are many rooms on the first level, and you can take a car down to the beach area.. if you dont have a car, they have a small open bus that went down there... i cant wait till next year when i can enjoy your wonderful island.. the people, the beaches and the sun.... Hi Janglo,

thank you so much for your nice little report about the Flamboyant.
I also like to mention here that Mr. Lambert the Manager of the Hotel, started right away after Ivan to clean up his property and to rebuilt the hotel.
I find this is amazing, and so far he did an excellent job, plus he kept all his staff employed!

I will go and visit the hotel in the next 1-3 days and take some new photos for you.

Hi Monja,
If you are going to be at the Flamboyant, could you swing by the Gem and snap a few of their new restaurant, too? I believe Ms. Moore wanted to have it open this month.
Thanx,
Marcia

Hi,

we went yesterday and took some photos for you two :-)
Flamboyant Restaurant:
They are still building the restaurant, but I would say in about 1 month the roof should be up!
Right now they have the nice small temporary restaurant on the beach, ( see photo) and the pool is ready to go - open for the guests!

Gem: The Restaurant is open, but when we went down there it was locked.
I am a bit dissapointed on how they built it, they have such a great location and the restaurant is built mainly out of concrete with small windows. I wished they had done a more open air restaurant - just my two cents (IMG:http://grenadatravelforum.com/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

thank you so much for the updated photos.. they sure are adding quite the addition. while i was there the staff had said they were building a two story, how right they were.. i agree with you on the gem.. they should have taken advantage of the view and kept that more open.. i missed the beach front bar they had there before.. it was nice to sit there and enjoy a cold one while watching the sunset....
cant wait till the next time i get there...

Nice to see things are progressing. I had a good lunch there last year when I was in Grenada on my own, before Ivan and when I visited with my wife at Christmas it was mashed up and looking very sad. Looking forward to revisiting and chilling out there with a few cold Caribs.
Regards

Richard
