I am planning to visit Grenada for a conference in October (4-9). The conference organizers specifically chose this island to assist in the effort to rebuild the economy.

I have invited a friend to join me and was wondering if there were any recommendations previous visitors could make for things that we can do on evenings after my meetings.

We are considering renting scooters from EZE Rentals - has anyone done this? Is it safe?

We want to visit the falls or the hot springs. Is it safe to do in the evening?

Looking forward to some responses.

Michael

Hey, thanks to all who reposnded to my inital posting.

Anse mentioned the safety of riding scooters - not sure if you meant that it just sent a message that we would be tourists and easily susceptible to theft from miscreant locals, or if you meant the safety issue as an unfamiliar rider.

Just want to confirm that I am an experienced rider - I know LOTS of tourists SAY that and then go home in a pine box or with a serious case of raod burn or broken leg. However, as I live in Bermuda, where each household is allowed to only have one vehicle, we are conditioned to ride mopeds, scooters, etc. from the age of 16.

Now, in a subsequent message, I note that a recent visitor stated that they HAD to rent a car because the scooters were destroyed in the recent storms - perhaps that would explain why the owners of EZE REntals have not responded to my emails requesting information.

I have visited Grenada before, usually on business, but I thought, as my friend was joining me this time, that we could get away from the hotel and move about on our own.

Perhaps I will have to look into a car rental as an option.

Again, thanks for your responses,
Michael

Hey Michael,

i'm sure Anse was referring to the safety issue, as sometimes the traffic here can be a heart stopper.
If you are experienced, you should not have any difficulties. However, i'm not too sure that you will find a scooter rental as they all suffered some loss fromt he hurricane last year.
Car rentals were totally unaffected.
I would suggest a soft top suzuki...(and lots of suntan lotion) (IMG:http://grenadatravelforum.com/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
