When we visit Grenada in February, I think there are a couple of things we'll want to do when the cruise ships aren't there. Like visiting Grand Anse and shopping in St. George.
How far in advance can you find out when ships will be in port? And is there a website for that information? Are taxis and tour guides always booked up on those days? thanks for any info. Only 4 1/2 months to go. |

You can find a cruise ship calendar at Board of Tourism site (http://grenadagrenadines.com/cruise_sch.html)
unfortunately the schedule is not updated yet. I will try to get the latest one for you and post the proper schedule on this forum as soon I get it. Regarding tour guides, some of the Tour Operators have contracts with some of the ships and will be not available on these days, if you have a particular tour guide in mind, just ask them before hand. Taxis are not a problem at all, we have lots of them :-) -------------------- Mieka

Thank you, mieka. That is great information to have!
Do most cruise passengers go to St. George's and to Grand Anse? I'm not sure what to expect on cruise ship days. |

Callaloo
Depending on how long the stopover is, will determine where the passengers go. Many will just walk into St Georges from the docks. Some take the Rhum Runner to Morne Rouge, or Grand Anse and spend time on the beach. Others will take a guided tour of the island if they have the time and feel adventurous. How long will you have to visit. -------------------- |

Most passenger going on tour in the morning, and some explore St. George town by foot.
I would say don't go to the Grand Etang, Annandale Falls, and Dougladston Estate on these days, since most tours will stop there. The Grand Anse Beach is mostly crowded with cruise ship passenger after lunch, I would suggest to look for a more secluded Beach on these days like Aquarium. On the hand, sometimes it is also nice just to watch them on the Grand Anse beach . (IMG:http://grenadatravelforum.com/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) -------------------- Mieka

Hi, Mieka,
Good people watching on Grand Anse on cruise-ship days? And, Anse, we'll be at Bel Air plantation from Feb. 10 to 20. We'll probably have to tear ourselves away from there, as we're very into relaxing in a beautiful setting. There will be a cruise ship almost every day that we'll be there, but I don't see that as a problem. Some are probably bigger than others. But I think we'll head to St. George's on a non=ship day. This is our 35th wedding-anniversary trip. |

Hopefully you will get out and explore a little bit (IMG:http://grenadatravelforum.com/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
Grenada is very quiet overall, and Grand Anse is a big beach. Even on cruise ship days, there is room for all. Morne Rouge is also a nice quiet beach & of course you should visit La Sagesse for lunch and sit and gaze out over the water for a while. Bel Air should fit your needs quite well & I hope you have a great trip. (IMG:http://grenadatravelforum.com/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif) -------------------- |
