Hi - I've just joined the forum and it's been a great source of information for our first trip to Grenada this December.

Can anyone tell me anything about The Beach Inn, Lazy Lagoon, the Village Hotel or Windward Sands Inn? I've seen glowing reviews of some other places at the lower budget end (eg Caribbean Cottage Club) but there doesn't seem to be much info about these and going in December will limit our options.

We're travelling with our 3-year-old daughter and would like to stay near St George's for about four days before we go to Paradise Inn in Carriacou - so are really trying to set up something for when we arrive.

My partner has an aversion to anything that feels like a complex or is too 'soulless' - eg big concrete buildings - though we still want somewhere comfortable enough to go with a child. It doesn't have to be on the beach but walking distance would be good - and we'd also like to make some easy trips to St George's. Some self-catering facilities would be helpful but not essential.

Thanks for any advice.

Hi and welcome to our forum.
The Beach Inn has a nice location, just a few minutes walk to the beach. The views from the Inn itself and wonderful, as it sits almost on the northern end of the beach. The property runs all the way to the waters edge and there is a small jetty for access. The rooms are clean and have the basic amenities.
Lazy Lagoon is located closer the the town of St.George, just off of the lagoon. The property sits back from the road and is quite peaceful. The views are of the town and the interior of the island. Rooms are pretty basic, but quite nice and come with mosquito nets.
Sorry, but i don't have much info on Windward Sands Inn, but people i have met, who stayed there, said it is o.k.
If you should have any specific questions, just let us know.
All the best..

Hi Hackney,

you can also try Hideaway Apts (http://www.grenadaexplorer.com/hideaway/), they are close to town and the Grand Anse Beach. The apts are simple, but spacious and very clean.

Caribbean Cottage Club is excellent, but most of the time allready booked, since the cottages are real nice and affordable. (http://www.grenadacottages.com)

We also have new Beach Apartments 'Jenny's Place' (http://www.jennyplacegrenada.com) right on the end of the Grand Anse Beach.

If you still need some assistance please just let me know.
Monja

Bones

If you type the address Mieka posted for Jennys place and ADD AN S after Jenny, you will get to the site.
Must be a slight oversight, we'll let her off this time though (IMG:http://grenadatravelforum.com/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) (IMG:http://grenadatravelforum.com/style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Jennys sounds just what I am looking for at the moment, right on the beach and it has A/C. Would you have any photos?
We have sorted next years holiday out so I am looking for 2007. As we are just about to take on a massive renovation project, the only way we can afford the Caribbean will be a last minute flight and a very late booking, not the way I like to do things but there is NO WAY I can give up Caribbean holidays. Hi Nicola,

unfortunately I have no photos at that moment, but I am sure I can take some for you soon.
The place looks nice from the outside, but I have not been in the house yet. The owner is a Grenadian and a former Miss World (1970).

Don't give up on your Grenada holiday before 2007, since I am sure they will have some excellent last minute flights this year. Last year they had some great deals from Germany for just 99 Euro one way over Christmas. You should check Virgin Atlantic every week for some great deals from the UK.

Where you are going next year for holidays? I have considered Dominica next Year, since I heard so many good things about the island, and you know I love the rain forest

Hi Mieka

We have booked Anguilla for next May as we have never been there before but we will almost definately be returning to Grenada the following year as long as we can sort out a last minute booking. We tried going without A/C this year in Antigua, not for us, it was sweltering, they had real hot weather with hardly any breeze which I have never known before, it was more like an endurance test than a holiday.

I am compiling a list of cheap accommodation with A/C, Jenny's seems ideal but if you could take some pics that would be brilliant. Do you know which months would be the quietest in Grenada so we would have a chance of booking last minute and finding somewhere. Don't think we would consider September or November though

I expect Dominica will be wonderful, lots of good hiking and not too developed. Hope you have a nice time. (IMG:http://grenadatravelforum.com/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Monja / Neil

I have no problem cooking the meal, tell me what you want & I will prepare the feast.
I will be bringing 5, so make sure you have plenty of plates and plastic silverwear. Shall I plan on cooking for the dogs ? (IMG:http://grenadatravelforum.com/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) (IMG:http://grenadatravelforum.com/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I wont need the hammock, finding accomodations should not be that difficult, but I have not looked yet. I am still struggling with flights being over $1,000 U.S. each.

I want to leave around the 21st and return around the 30th, 31st of December.

I just cant seem to find a sensible flight price & routing. I have looked into Orlando, Atlanta, Miami, Washington D.C. / Dulles etc...

Help me get away from here !!!!!!!!!

Anse,

don't worry we have enough space (IMG:http://grenadatravelforum.com/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) and of course you need to cook for our doggies they expect always a 3 course cuisine christmas dinner (they are spoiled, I guess).

Did you check out Spirit Air for some cheap airfares?
