I've been having an interest in vacation villas in Grenada for a while now.  I've noticed that very few visitors to this discussion board have posted questions, etc., regarding stays at villas.  Also many villas are listed for sale by various agents.  Does anyone know if this is a dying sector? Is this still a worthwhile investment opportunity in Grenada?  Can they compete with the small hotels?

A few villas are already booked for much of the 2004 dry season. I don't know how else to guage it since the villa rental companies have the numbers, and they are not throwing them out for public consumption to the best of my knowledge.

I suppose if you went direct to them, they may enlighten you, but I'm not sure. It doesn't hurt to ask though.

It would seem logical that the medium priced ones would get more occupancy than the high priced ones, but that isn't written in stone. I think if you are interested in getting into building and renting villas, the rental companies might be interested enough to assist you in your research.

I know this doesn't help much, but it's all I can think to do at this time.

When we were planning our trip to Grenada, we looked into some of the Villas/homes that were available. The prices, compared to some of the hotels, were really not that bad. A home, often a pool, all to yourself seemed very decadent.  However, the "all to yourself" is not a reality, as most of these places come with maid service, pool service, etc. The service people usually arrive around 8 a.m. and may not leave until after noon. I, personally, was not comfortable with this idea -- on a holiday you do not want to think about the presence of another person/stranger.  I did talk to someone who stayed at such a place but they said they would not do it again for the very reason I just mentioned. I suppose if you were comfortable or used to "hired help" this would not be a problem -- for us "commoners" its not such a great deal. However, I think a villa would be the ideal place for a few couples or families to share if your holiday included such.
