Hello,

My husband and I are coming to Grenada at the end of March for one week.... can't wait!

We are looking for an apartment or cottage to rent for the week. We would like a place that has nice views, somewhat private and not too condo like..... however the latter might be hard to avoid.

We would really like to be on a nice beach as well.

Some of the places we were considering are: Gem Holiday Beach Resort, Carribean Cottage Club (not on beach but my husband thought it looked cool), Coral Cove, Lance Aux Epines Cottages and Hideaway Apartments (but they don't have an ocean view cottage available so that is disappointing).

Our budget is at the most $135 per day but being canadian the conversion is expensive for us. I would really like to find something much cheaper if we could!

We would also like a location with a village or shops/restaurants in walking distance and easy to get a around as we don't want to rent a car. We considering splitting our time in two spots, one with kitchen facilities one without to get two experiences in location.

Tall order i know!

Thanks for your help and your great web site!

Leigh

Hi Leigh,

first of all welcome on board  :banna

From all of your choices, I would go with Hideaway Apts, even if you don't get the ocean view apt. - you can still sit outside in the garden right by the ocean. Hideaway apts. only has 6 apts and only 3 are for rent. They are in a great location for walking to the beach & restaurants.

Lance Aux Epines & Coral Cove Cottages are real nice and direct on the beach, but there is nothing close by. You have to take a taxi or rent a car.

Caribbean Cottage Club is done real nice and new. The cottages are furnished in style and comfortable. The only thing is you don't have a view or I am not aware of it.

Did you had a look at Flamboyant Hotel or Grand View. They also have some cottages and the hotels are not that big. And the view from both hotels are a dream.

 We have just returned from staying at Caribbean Cottage Club.  You do have a great view because the cottages, while not at all on the beach, are up on a hill.  We spent a lot of time sitting on the balcony looking out at the sea.  On the other hand, you'll be a lot closer to the beach at Hideaway.  We walked past it each day on our way to the beach, and it was almost there.  See my separate post on Caribbean Cottage Club.  One factor is that Hideaway will be closer to the traffic on the road, but much closer to the water.

Hi soaringhawk,

seems you had a very relaxing holiday, glad to hear it.
Caribbean Cottage Club was a good choice. I personally like it a lot.
As regards Hideaway, what most people don't realise unless they have been there, is that the cottages are actually set back from the road quite a good way. In fact, while there you can hardly hear any traffic whatsoever.
Just thought i'd put in my 2 cents worth.

Thanks for clarifying that about Hideaway, (Monja)?  We passed the sign every day but I was never sure which buildings were the cottages.  If they are back from the road then the location should be excellent, nice & breezy too.  We did have sand flies in the evening and a few mosquitoes at Caribbean Cottage Club, but there are both screens and mosquito net in the bedroom, so if we closed the door between the rooms at night there really wasn't a problem for sleeping.  Hope this helps Leigh, although maybe they have already taken their trip...
