Hi,
We've done the AI's before. Now we want no-low-frills, close to Grand Anse Beach, smaller sized hotels/guesthouses. Going for adventure, self-direction, local pleasures. Anyway, I have a list of several that I'm perusing. Just wondering if anyone has any great secrets before I pick one. Many are lovely and so affordable for two. $35-$50 range for double. Maybe considering "breakfast included" too. Don't even want an A/C. Thanks good people! Oh I've a friend, a national, who will be on holiday there with family so good tips in other areas will come from her too.

It is not Grand Anse, or really close to Grand Anse, but check out Jon and Susan's place that is North of St Georges.

Anse,
Thank you for the reply, though we went ahead and booked South Winds in Grand Anse. Very good customer service and looks exactly like what I wanted to find. So will be there next Tuesday.

Thanks to all. So to return the favor let me tell you about South Winds. We got exactly what we wanted, no frills, private, close to the beach. The room had an eat-in-kitchen, fully stocked, a swell bathroom, and things that I didn't really care about like hot water and cable tv. There was a radio in the kitchen, oh and great closets and a dresser and a phone and a mosquito repellant machine. There was daily maid-service. Staff was lovely, very helpful all around. We paid $40/nite for 5 nights and got a 10% discount for booking 5 nites.

The walk to Grand Anse beach was hardly 10 minutes and we had a view of it from our terrace (w/3 chairs and a drying rack). Even we walked to Mourne Rouge beach in 30 minutes or so. I never did eat at Brown Sugar though. Oh we met the proprietor, Mr. David, upon arrival and he remembered me from our email correspondence. Very kind gentleman. And handsome. And he has a nice little dog. What else? Oh I didn't get that "tourist camp" feeling in the area at all. Basically we loved it. I'd recommend it for sure. But my friend's place is nearly finished so I'll stay there next time. Lovely lady w/private and beautiful antique filled b&b on hilltop with view of the harbor! So there is my story.

Ione,

Thanks very much for taking the time to give us the rundown on your vacation digs. It will be extremely useful for those wishing to find a place to stay with the same parameters as you. (IMG:http://grenadatravelforum.com/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

All the best,

Jim (IMG:http://grenadatravelforum.com/style_emoticons/default/cool.gif)

PS - I have a cousin, who is a doll, with the same name, Ione. This is only the second time I've come across the name. J.

Ione,

Your trip sounds great. I am glad that things seemed to fit your liking so well. You need to tell us more about your friends b&b, where it is located, etc....

Your last name is not Skye, is it ??? (IMG:http://grenadatravelforum.com/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)
